Unfolding
The first step in the laundry pipeline is unfolding. Since wrinkled garments have a similar shape, a fully-extended garment allows the robot to recognize its category and plan the next steps accordingly.
Ironing
Once the garment category has been recognized, the garment has to be ironed to remove any wrinkles present. This requires a fine manipulation of the iron to remove any wrinkles successfully.
Folding
The final step is to fold garments to store them and keep them unwrinkled. Different garments have different folding sequences associated, and the robot must learn them to apply them.
